Cowboy Birthday Boy Card

I was really “in the zone” when I made this boy’s card (boys of all ages…lol).  The image is by MelJen’s Designs Lil Rodeo Boy.  I used several techniques for this card.

First I colored the dig stamp with my Copic markers.  Then I went over the lines with my glitter gel pens.   With the same glitter gel pens I drew a squiggly dash line to simulate the rope that the little cowboy is holding.  After that I took a matte photo paper sheet and scribbled all over it with watercolor pencils.  It looked like a 2 year old had grabbed hold of my art supplies…LOL  I used a water brush and went to town on the cardstock and this gave it a watercolor look.  I took a brown ink pad and I inked the cardstock all over the place.  Cowboys make me think of dirt, grunginess (no insult, I love cowboys, they’re very sexy Winking smile)  I wrapped twine around the image several times and taped it all on the back.

I used a decorative tape at the bottom that I’ve had in my stash for a couple of years and I finally got to use it!  I did the same dash line around the front of the card.  With my Making Memories distressing tool I seriously distressed the edges of the card and then I went over the distressing with a blue ink pad.  Finally, I simply glued the image to the card with glue dots.  And that’s how this card was made.  We are showcasing this card, along with all of the other DT members, over at 2 Sisters Challenges.  Go check it out!
